The 44th IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) was hosted
by Japan in Tokyo during July 7- 20.
The Contest had participants of 457 students from 82 countries + 2 countries with
observer participants only.
The Olympiad was successfully closed on July 19.

Team Leaders arrived on Monday July 7 and spend three to four days setting
up the examinations and translating papers into more than 40 languages used by
IMO teams. The Contestants and Deputy Leaders arrived on Friday 11. |
The IMO Opening Ceremony took place on Saturday July 12 in Tokyo. The two
four-and-a-half hour examinations took place on July 13 Sunday & 14 Monday, and
after this, the Leaders and Deputy Leaders marked and coordinated the examination
papers while the Contestants participated in a program of excursions and cultural
events. |
The closing ceremony was on Friday July 18 at the Shibuya Public
Hall. His Highness, the Crown Prince was present and Gold,Silver,
and Bronze medals were presented to the highest achievers, by the
minister of Education,Culture,Sports,Science and Technology and many
other sponsors. |
Following the closing ceremony, the IMO participants and guests were invited
to Final Banquet at the Keio Plaza hotel. On July 19, was the day
of departure of all participants. |
